Green Printing – A Textbook Approach
In 2008 Cambridge University Press won the prestigious Green Apple Award.
Printing’s Technical Director led a new group of twenty individuals from printing and publishing,
with the help of a consultant Helen Hunter, in a full review of environmental practices, identifying all actual and
potential impacts on the environment. A key aim was to refine and improve the environmental
management system to achieve ISO 14001 and included the publishing operation as well as
manufacturing in the scope.
The Environmental Management Group created forty-seven environmental initiatives that demonstrated the commitment to continuous environmental improvement and so was recognised by the Green Apply Award.
